Romanian group Agrofam plans to develop a solar power project in southeastern Romania, in partnership with an Austrian company, Agrofam owner Stefan Poienaru told a news conference Thursday.
According to Poienaru, the photovoltaic panels will be installed on a 50-ha plot of land in Fetesti.
The investment is estimated at over EUR50 million, he said, adding that Agrofam is in advanced negotiations with an Austrian company for a partnership in the project.
According to Poienaru, construction works will start next spring.
Agrofam also plans to develop a sheep farm, possibly in partnership with an investment fund from Qatar, he added. The investment will be worth EUR4 million.
Agrofam was set up 20 years ago. The group has a turnover of about EUR25 million and employs 350 people.
The firms that make up the group specialize in animal breeding, farming and grain trading.
