The mountain nighttime running contest Parangul Night Challenge, now in its third year, will take place on Saturday in Parang – a Jiu Valley resort, with 150 athletes from 30 cities having signed up for the event.
The competitors will run a 4.4 km long route that goes uphill from Slope B to the 2,074m-high Parangul Mic peak, with an elevation gain of about 1,000 meters; the organizers also envisage a ‘vertical race’ trial.
The event is organized by the Bike & Run Petrosani Sports Association led by Avram Iancu, the Romanian swimmer who attempted to cross the English Channel in August 2015, wearing just briefs and a cap on his head.
